Human Change Insights – Regulating the Internet

Watch Now

Across the globe a wave of new legislation is underway to regulate and ensure the internet is a safer space for children. In the UK, the Online Safety Act was passed in 2023 to regulate online speech and media and protect children and adults online.

Similarly, in the US, two major new bills – the Kids Online Safety Act, or KOSA, and the Children and Teens’ Online Privacy Protection Act, referred to as COPPA 2.0 – have passed Senate end of July and are currently sitting in the House waiting to be voted on. If the House votes yes, this will represent the most significant restrictions on tech platforms aimed at protecting children’s online safety.
